Entry Mid-Range Models : $500 - $1000
Every year the line up in this range changes, as I find new makers and new models and even better value. There is now more choice with different brands offering slightly different construction methods. The Camps ST C is a very easy to play guitar, due to its thin neck; while the Alhambra guitar models deliver power and projection needed for AMEB exams and serious study.
On the other hand, the Alhambra 2F and 3F are great entry level specialised Flamenco guitars. While the Alhambra Z Cutaway and the Almansa Cutaways are great if you need a guitar for busking, gigging or school ensemble and you need the easy plug-and-play of inbuilt Fishman amplification.
The hands down winner on value for money criteria would have to be the Alhambra 1C since it had a quality solid top and being thinly lacquered delivers punch and precision. On the other hand if the budget reaches the Alhambra 2C and 3C have superior harmonic tops and deliver improved tone and playability. Just check out the online demos for all three and you will hear the difference.
