Entry Mid-Range Models : $599 - $1000

Every year the line up in this range changes, as I find new makers and new models and even better value. There is now more choice with different brands offering slightly different construction methods, with the Alhambra guitar models deliver power and projection needed for AMEB exams and serious study.

On the other hand, the Alhambra 2F and 3F are great entry level specialised Flamenco guitars.  While the Alhambra Z Cutaway and the Antonio Pinto Carvalho Cutaways are great if you need a guitar for busking, gigging or school ensemble and you need the easy plug-and-play of inbuilt Fishman amplification.

Alhambra 1C

The hands down winner on value for money criteria would have to be the Alhambra 1C since it had a quality solid top and being thinly lacquered delivers punch and precision. On the other hand if the budget reaches the Alhambra 2C and 3C have superior harmonic tops and deliver improved tone and playability. Just check out the online demos for all three and you will hear the difference.

The Alhambra 1C, priced at $899 falls slightly above the entry-level price point but is an excellent option for those willing to stretch their budget.

This iconic Spanish-made guitar features a solid Cedar top and Sapele back and sides.

Daniel Nistico's review highlights its quality Cedar top, powerful internal bracing, and lacquered finish, delivering the warmth and power of Cedar with a generous roundness.

He noted that while it might be a little sweeter and not as punchy as some others, it offers a beautiful, projecting tone with great sustain up the neck.

Notes –  This is Alhambra’s entry level model featuring a high quality Cedar or Spruce top or an excellent 2nd stage guitar. Once you have decided you want to get serious with your playing.

Although it is slightly more than some of it’s imitators and it is an entry level guitar in terms of Alhambra don’t let this fool you because Alhambra put only the best tops on their guitars and lavish attention and care on all of their guitars. This is the reason why it is the biggest seller in Australia and around the world second only to the Alhambra 4P the biggest seller at the intermediate level.

The 1C comes in shorter scale lengths of ½ size (544mm) for very young beginners, ¾ (610) for growing players, 7/8 (636) for players requiring an almost full size guitar but not quite stretching enough in terms of hand span. The full size 650 scale length guitar offers the growing student a full size guitar sound in a more manageable playing sized instrument.

More expensive than your bargain basement guitar however the difference is, this instrument will train the musical ear as well as enabling the young player to enjoy the fruits of their musical labour.
