Over the years we have been asked time and again: Which strings are best for my guitar?

The answer is different for every player and every guitar. We are sure you will find something in our range that makes your guitars sing.

Are all strings the same?

Recently my favourite string went out of production, when the legendary founder Tony Acosta passed.

This put me in a bind since over the years Luthier strings have become my go-to strings - especially the Luthier Blues - for any problem guitar that was not sounding just right. This is especially prevalent with some vintage or second-hand guitars I am selling on behalf of an owner: They may arrive with old and pitted strings and a new set of strings brings the guitar back to life.

Luthier Strings are very forgiving and work hard to set fire to the top, delivering a lot of tonal detail especially in the mid-range. So when I heard that Luthier strings were being produced again I secured the distribution rights, so I am pleased to announce Luthier Strings are now available in Australia again!

Not only that but also…

As well as Luthier, I have always stocked a variety of strings for special applications around the showroom and the workshop - seeking to get the best out of each guitar that comes through the door. I just have not put any effort into selling them since every guitarist has a favourite string and some purists cannibalise three strings sets from different makers to get one good set they like.  But it is also true that every guitarist plays differently, hear differently and looks for different things.

Carbon v Nylon

The biggest divide is nylon or carbon. Many guitarists want brightness and projection. If this is the case for you, then choose carbon . On the other hand, many players like warmth and tonality and richness in which case you will land in the nylon camp. If you happen to acquire a guitar that needs a little help in the trebles, or you want to bring a more flamenco growl out of your guitar then you might want to string it with carbon trebles.
