This new guitar model joins the line of " grand concert " instruments, which feature the finest materials and most sophisticated designs. This guitar has a double-top made of Nomex, designed under the supervision of Gernot Wagner, one of the founders of the double-top school.
The guitar's internal structure closely follows Wagner's design, not only in the soundbox but also in the construction of the sides (the inner layer is cypress), a technique designed to enhance the instrument's volume and power. This construction technique allows the soundboard to vibrate more strongly. The double inner cypress sides further increase the instrument's power and impart a warmer sound due to the use of this wood.

This is a vintage, high-quality, handcrafted instrument from Japan, known for its deep, mellow tone and excellent sustain. It was built in the Kohno workshop under the supervision of the renowned luthier Masaru Kohno, whose bracing design it uses.
The luthier Masaki Sakurai is the nephew of Masura Kohno who passed away in 1998. Masaki Sakurai went on to win the prestigious first prize at the 1988 International Paris Guitar Making Competition, confirming his status as a world class master builder.

About the Maker
Born in 1963 in the province of Cadiz, the Spanish luthier Rafael Romero Barroso began playing guitar at age twelve as a disciple of Rafael Escudier. By the time he was sixteen, he was performing alongside such renowned artists as "Chano Lotabo", "Rancapino", "Curro Malena" and "El Chato de la Isla."
During this period, he met Mario Melero Deudero (b. 1927), a Spanish guitar maker also from Cadiz, and discovering his true vocation apprenticed with him. When Mario retired, in fact, he passed his tools on to Rafael, who like his teacher, continues to build handmade classical and flamenco guitars using traditional tools and techniques.
Later, traveling to Madrid, he met the guitar maker Jose Romero, who encouraged and supported his efforts. Among the luthiers from whose friendship and advice he has profited, he also mentions Vicente Carrillo Casas. Among his clientele are such artists as Manuel Parrilla, Juan Parrilla, Moraito Chico, "El Carbonero" and Alberto San Miguel, professor of guitar at the Conservatory of Music in Granada. He brings to his flamenco and classical guitars both the knowledge of his craft and the sensibilities of a professional guitarist

The maker
I was born in Milan in 1971. I obtained the diploma of Master Luthier Restorer at the Civica Scuola di Liuteria in Milan in 1996.
In my professional activity I have created more than 250 instruments drawing inspiration from the Masters of historical lutherie.
Of fundamental importance was the possibility of viewing and measuring works by authors such as Antonio De Torres, Hermann Hauser I, Pietro Gallinotti, Francisco Simplicio, Louis Panormo, just to name a few, who have contributed enormously to developing my way of conceiving sound and aesthetics.
In 2007, at the Barcelona Music Museum, I conducted an in-depth study on the 1859 guitar that belonged to Miguel Llobet, which inspired Hauser I to make his Spanish-style instruments, and the famous “ Papier Machè ” (a guitar with cardboard sides and back from 1862), both made by Antonio De Torres and of which I have produced several copies over the years.

The Guitar and his building process in the makers Own Words
The 2021 is a guitar inspired by a historical instrument the 1937 Hauser that belonged to Andreas Segovia an instrument he used until 1962. The original is kept at the Metropolitan Museum in New York to make 2021 Hausser I used measurements made by the American luthier Richard Brunet like the original, my guitar has a spruce soundboard back and sides are made of Brazilian rosewood and has a 650mm scale length. Segovia's guitar is an instrument that is central in my opinion in the history of the evolution of the classical guitar. In a 1954 magazine called Guitar Review he called it "the greatest guitar of our time". I believe it is fundamental, not just this single instrument but all the work done by Hauser from the moment he devoted himself to building in the Spanish style he made this guitar using Llobet's famous Torres guitar as a model the FE09 of 1859 which, among other things, I too have had the opportunity to analyse and measure about a dozen years ago at the Music Museum of Barcelona... where it is kept. That Torres guitar was a source of inspiration we can also deduce from the fact that for example the rosette design was taken up by Hauser for many of his guitars. But Hauser didn't just copy, he reinvented the instrument according to his own taste and what could have been his own idea of sound thus finally creating an instrument that is wrong to define better than Torres' but one that is certainly very versatile and suitable for playing most of the contemporary repertoire from a design point of view, Hauser redesigned the curves of the template and enlarged it by increasing its vibrating surface increased the thickness of the soundboard and also made the choice of adding an under-bridge brace, that is a spruce reinforcement with grain opposite to that of the soundboard precisely glued facing the bridge in which the the central brace fits.
All these elements combined determine the way the instrument works and the acoustic result that results are long-lasting and very balanced sounds for some years now I have also added a personal touch of mine to the historical copies always traditional, therefore without the use of materials such as Nomex or carbon, this is a five-brace guitar project with an under-bridge from which I get a prompt and brilliant instrument which is part of a certain more recent Spanish tradition however, I now also consider the work done over many years on Gallinotti as mine in the sense that I have internalised the three Gallinotti instruments that I have in my repertoire to the point that I can almost define them as my personal project
it is a model from 1965 in spruce and a 1952 model that can be made in both spruce and cedar that from 1952 among other things is the first ever guitar with a cedar soundboard and I believe I was among the first to make copies it is a very interesting project because its timbre is very original retaining some of the typical characteristics of spruce instruments but with a very different sound color a particular mix that can satisfy both spruce and cedar lovers
Q. will there be any news in your production in the future, in the medium or long term?
A. I intend to continue on the path I have taken over the years continuing to work in the field of traditional lutherie which is the one that interests me the most, I would say that it is a vast enough program

It has a beautiful spruce top and the most beautiful back and sides I have seen. It is a very solid performer in every aspect, clarity, sustain, playability.
Let’s hear some notes around the instrument. Has nice string differentiation, each string is individual has its own colour and differentiation.( Plays a run ) and says Nice!.
This guitar would be nice for the music of Bach or Baroque composers ( plays runs showing clarity). It sounds nice due to the clarity, projection and tone of the Spruce. Plays the Prelude from Suite BWV 1006a” It will bring out a lot of the beautiful characteristic of this guitar”.
About the Maker in his own words
Years go by and I enrolled in university: course of studies in industrial design. These years have been fundamental for my training as a luthier, because I learned about the production processes and the design stages, I knew the materials and processes of a product. I lived for 5 years in a fantastic environment, surrounded by friends who are passionate about the most varied forms of creativity.
Towards the end of my studies, I realize that guitars don’t just come out of factories, but that there are also craftsmen who manage to live building splendid musical instruments. So I decide to go and meet one: I choose it at random, from the yellow pages and the next day I go to his laboratory: the luthier is Dario Pontiggia.
Dario immediately proves to be very kind and begins to tell me the story of Antonio De Torres. After an hour of conversation I understand that this job is “what I want to do when I grow up”.
Today I’m grown up and I’m a professional luthier, guitars have become my life. I have built many: they are the result of the passion and study of the great guitar makers of the past. These same guitars today are around the world and are played now in various continents: this is the aspect that makes me most proud of my work.

This is latest arrival in Australia and to my knowledge the only guitar from Marco Bortolozzo here, yet another artistic masterpiece from this fine maker.
As a starting point in developing this new model, Marco used the plans for Andres Segovia's iconic 1937 Hermann Hauser. He used a thick "torrefied" (hence the darker color) spruce top and thicknessed it with a variable pattern.
At the same time, he tried to lower the pitch of the guitar by making adjustments to the structure and the general weight. He also added a low-depth tornavoz.
The thicker soundboard gives the treble strings much clarity while retaining a good sustain. The lowered resonance pitch (around E) gives the guitar deep basses. All the adjustments and measurements were made with the help of a microphone and special software to monitor the frequencies.
The guitar also has a hidden adjustable titanium rod inside the neck for stability. The aesthetic details of this guitar are (as usual) of Marco's individual style, although one can distinguish some inspiration in the rosette design from one of the more spectular rosettes of Vicente Arias featuring interlocking circles - meticulously and perfectly executed.
Many of his aesthetic ideas are deeply connected with his background in industrial design. The hard "modern" edges and angles of the inlays and shapes of the guitar (look at the headstock for example) are fused with traditional elements that Marco draws from the architectural wonders of his residence (Milan), one of the great design capitals of the world.
He even gives a "tip of the hat" to his good friend Richard Reynoso with similar style inlay work in the heel cap.
As bold as its appearance, it is equally matched in sound and playability.
The lightweight and efficient build results in a powerful, explosive sound with deep resonant basses and singing, voice-like trebles.
The guitar has immediate and fast response making it incredible easy to play, particularly for the right hand due to the quick attack.
At the same time, there is a solid firmness to every note, reminiscent to us of the more lightweight guitars of Hauser I and II.
Marco has nuanced the top to maximize sustain and also to control the overtones to help the guitar modulate easily with a variety of tonal colors and dynamic range.
He also does very thin double sides which gives this guitar additional power, sustain and assists in giving the bottom-end some extra boost as well as to provide additional clarity and brilliance to the trebles.
The guitar plays very comfortably with both hands thanks to the smooth neck shape, easy action and fast responsiveness.
Absolutely delightful to play and hear, this is a fantastic guitar built on the most traditional of foundations, but with a unique and very tasteful aesthetic.

Description:
The epitome of Spanish concert guitars Ramirez is the powerhouse of Spanish guitar making. The 1A is at the pinnacle of the Ramirez Workshop, who have set the standard in guitar making since 1882. It displays all the hall marks of a 1A Colour, full bodied exquisite trebles and warm ringing rich basses and velvety mid-range.
This guitar was made in ‘84 when with Andres Segovia at the peak of his powers dominated the concert stage and where Segovia went all other concert guitarists followed.
This is the model played by most of the concert guitarist throughout the 20 Century including Andres Segovia, Narciso Yepes, Agustin Barrios, Julian Bream, Christopher Parkening, winner of many prizes and used in countless recordings.
The guitar resonates with a powerful, deep and colourful sound and best balance and sustain.
Woods were well seasoned and very selected in the workshop in ’83 now they are unobtainable. The rosette and details of marquetry are of the highest quality.

When Nicolasa Salamanca died, widow of Domingo Esteso, her nephews decided to call themselves first SOBRINOS DE DOMINGO ESTESO-CONDE HERMANOS and later HERMANOS CONDE-SOBRINOS DE DOMINGO ESTESO.

Among guitar collectors this is a desired era for its excellent sound quality and is a very rare example of the famed Gravina 7 workshop signed by Paco de Lucia since this was the top model the workshop made in Brazilian Rosewood. This guitar is made of excellent tone woods, impossible to obtain nowadays. Brazilian rosewood with breathtakingly beautiful shades, as well as German spruce top, also with a straight and even grain endow this guitar with plenty of quality and character, typical of Hermanos Conde in that time.
This guitar has got great character. One of the most remarkable qualities is its incredible volume. While testing it thoroughly, we noticed really powerful and bright bass strings, as well as vivid trebles with great scope, all of which make a guitar with an extraordinarily high sound quality.

This is vintage guitar from the golden Conde flamenco guitar building tradition. Condition: This Conde Hermanos is in terrific playing condition with an absolutely stunning sound that must be heard. There is some normal wear for a guitar this age, but it is in great structural condition and still looks nice. Neck is very ergonomic with a very good feel and the action is comfortable and there are no dead spots or buzzing. No fret great wear. Back of the neck is smooth without any dings or dents. Overall, the body finish is in good shape with typical finish checking. There are also some light scratches and a small area of finish wear on the lower bout bass side. No cracks in the body. This is one loud flamenco guitar with a gorgeous vintage sound. You would not find in a modern copy. Includes period case. Everything pictured is ready to be professionally packed and shipped.

By the time he was sixteen, he was performing alongside such renowned artists as "Chano Lotabo", "Rancapino", "Curro Malena" and "El Chato de la Isla."
During this period, he met Mario Melero Deudero (b. 1927), a Spanish guitar maker also from Cadiz, and discovering his true vocation apprenticed with him. When Mario retired, in fact, he passed his tools on to Rafael, who like his teacher, continues to build handmade classical and flamenco guitars using traditional tools and techniques.
Later, traveling to Madrid, he met the guitar maker Jose Romero, who encouraged and supported his efforts. Among the luthiers from whose friendship and advice he has profited, he also mentions Vicente Carrillo Casas. Among his clientele are such artists as Manuel Parrilla, Juan Parrilla, Moraito Chico, "El Carbonero" and Alberto San Miguel, professor of guitar at the Conservatory of Music in Granada. He brings to his flamenco and classical guitars both the knowledge of his craft and the sensibilities of a professional guitarist

A really excellent Concert level guitar equally at home on the concert stage as on a Flamenco tablao. This is because Rafael Romero is renown as a flamenco maker so even his classicals have a flamenco soul that rings forth as soon as you apply flamenco technique. Although it will be perfectly behaved when you merely stroke it.
So, a very versatile guitar delivering pronounced bases and ringing trebles. It will appeal to a player looking for very clear, fast speaking classical with light overtones for a classical it plays very aggressive and flamenco. This is very common with flamenco guitar builders even their classicals have a flamenco edge.

This flamenco guitar is part of the “Flamenco Studio Professional” series of guitars made for the advanced student. It has real flamenco attack power, tonal palette and playability to perform in the concert hall or recording studio. This is a spruce Blanca, so it has a nice snappy attack, with a lot of bite and projection. Yet it is incredibly well set up.
Aesthetically, it features a 3 piece back, and old-school, Esteso-style head shape. Overall, a solid instrument at this price point. I have three of these left from my latest Madrid buying trip to choose from.

This flamenco guitar is part of the “Flamenco Studio Professional” series of guitars that Felipe makes for the advanced student. It has all the necessary power, tonal palette and playability for immediate use in the concert stage or recording studio. This is a spruce negra, which in addition to the qualities of its Blanca counterpart, will have extra power which even experienced players find helpful in concert.

For most of the 20th Century the history of the flamenco concert guitar was the rivalry for the Flamenco crown between Conde Hermanos and Ramirez. Conde featuring Spruce tops and Ramirez Cedar tops as played by Serranito in all his recordings as well as many of the luminaries of the belle époque of flamenco.
This is an excellent example of the high standard achieved by the Ramirez in their fight to death for the best flamenco players with the Conde Gravina workshop.

I have known Thomas over many years and he plays across genres Classical, flamenco, world music, jazz and across differnt guitar electric, steel flamenco but always Conde Hermanos. He recently left Australia to return to Spain and left me this, guitar his pride and joy and constant companion to sell.
So I asked him what drew him to the Eduard Ferrer after so many Condes. This is what he said:
“This guitar has become my favorite for live performances due to its outstanding dynamic range, surpassing even my Conde guitars. Its midrange projection ensures that the audience can enjoy my performance with clarity, as it doesn't get overpowered by other band members.
Until 2017, I stuck with my Conde guitars for live shows. However, I faced issues when playing eclectic styles or with instruments like bass; they tended to overpower, requiring excessive amplification.
To address this, I visited Spain, reconnecting with my family and consulting various luthiers. I reached out to Eduardo Duran for a solution, desiring a guitar suitable not only for flamenco but also for the jazz style I play. Eduardo had two guitars designed specifically for volume and midrange projection. Arcangel Fernadez 2008 Flamenco – one of the last built
This flamenco guitar was built one of the last two built by the master luthier Arcángel Fernández in the year 2008, considered to be one of the best guitar makers in history.
His instruments are extremely rare, since Japanese collectors bought almost all of them. His guitars are truly admired by guitar makers, collectors and guitarists all around the world.
This is a rare and unique guitar in every way.
Arcangel Fernandez de la Mata - Started as a flamenco guitar player and ended up working with Marcelo Barbero when he approached him to make him a guitar.
Marcelo Barbero already a legend then and with an extensive waiting list said “impossible” but Arcangel finally got his guitar. Finally apprenticed under Barbero he takes over the workshop at his demise and as the only apprentice Barbero ever taught, finishes all his outstanding orders. Later moving to his own workshop at 26 Jesus y Maria in Lavapies.
This is the beginning of a in constant search of beauty and perfection in guitar making.
His own guitar building references are Antonio Torres, Marcelo Barbero and Santos Hernadez. His guitar building process was always slow and painstaking to such an extent that his guitars are termed “ghosts”.
Since, even in his lifetime so few people had ever seen one and the waiting list was 15 years even back then.

Conde Hermanos is one of the most famous names in the world of Flamenco guitar.
For sale is the 1969 Sobrinos de Esteso guitar. This amazing instrument was purchased directly from Pepe de Lucia during his tour here who had it from Paco. It has had only one owner since.
This guitar is a step up from the other top end Conde's that are on the market because they used the best woods and were intended to represent the pinnacle of guitar making in the Conde workshop.
The Conde Hermanos lineage dates back to Domingo Esteso who established a workshop in Madrid in 1915. He passed away in 1937 and his nephews and great nephews continued the tradition although they have recently parted ways.
This guitar has been played but is in excellent condition.
It features a fine grained Cedar top, Rosewood back and sides and an ebony fingerboard. It has a French polish finish. The attention to detail is extraordinary and the crafting of this guitar is meticulous. It comes in a hard case.

1960’s Conde Hermanos Pozuelo blanca with Pegs-Domingo Esteso Headstock
This guitar has been completely restored being hand French Polished, re-fretted, action adjusted to perfection and tuning corrected.
A small crack on the back has been expertly repaired and has not effect on the sound of the guitar.
This is a one of a kind Conde with incredible volume (you wont need a microphone!)
The sound is explosive with a quick and sharp attack.
It has the typical dry, “woody” and firm tone, capable of retaining clarity and punch even when driven to the extreme limits.
There is perfect balance though all the registers.
The third string has a brightness and resonance that is lacking in most guitars.
It has a fast action that is very comfortable to play.
Because of its volume this would be a great guitar for accompanying dancers as well as for solo playing.

Paco’s comments say it all really. He praised the Erez Perlman and said that it sounded like the guitars of olden times.
The presentation is very flamenco with an austere look and the rosette shows timeless beauty. The plantilla is reminiscent of Manuel Reyes.
As Paco says in the video it is traditional sounding, loud and very fast and responsive with a very dry flamenco sound that comes across in the recording below. While the Erez is traditional sounding they feature mechanical pegs for the convenience of the stage musician needing to retune between sets.
No wonder there is long waiting list
In summary: It’s a modern guitar but built with time and patience and like the guitars of old with a clear strong flamenco projection and extremely light and fast.
Condition Report:
Immaculate, the owner has a number of high end flamenco guitars in his collection and liked the Erez Perlman so much he ordered two.

1972 Jose Ramirez III 1A Concert Flamenco
This guitar is in excellent original condition apart from being re-fretted as well a having new wooden pegs fitted.
Has all the characteristics of the Ramirez guitars from this the best epoch of the Ramirez workshop when the best makers were part of the team.
The tone is a perfect blend of beauty and true flamenco aggressiveness. It has great power, as well as sustain, sweetness, a fullness of tone and a balance across the entire register.
When playing melodically it sings like a human voice.
This guitar is reminiscent of the sound of the guitars played by Sabicas, Manolo Sanlucar and Juan Serrano who also played Ramirez guitars.
As sweet as the tone is, it still has the aggressive response when pushed in the right direction – rasgeados in particular are quite explosive and powerful.
Playability is super easy, with a fast action.

Conde Hermanos is one of the most famous names in the world of Flamenco guitar.
For sale is a 2008 Conde Hermanos Reedicion guitar. This amazing instrument is No 6 of 50 reproductions of a famous Negra flamenco model made in 1953 in the workshop of the nephews (Viuda y Sobrinos Esteso) of the great Domingo Esteso.
The Conde Hermanos lineage dates back to Domingo Esteso who established a workshop in Madrid in 1915. He passed away in 1937 and his nephews and great nephews continued the tradition although they have recently parted ways.
In the 2000's, each year, Conde Hermanos made a limited edition (50 guitars) of their most famous guitars including the 1953 Negra.
This guitar is a step up from the other top end Conde's that are on the market because they used the best woods and were intended to represent the pinnacle of guitar making in the Conde workshop. Many instruments can be found in collections. Guitar Salon International have one in their "museum".
This guitar has been played but is in excellent condition.
It features a Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides and an ebony fingerboard.
It has a 662mm scale length and a nut width of 52mm. It has a French polish finish.
The attention to detail is extraordinary and the crafting of this guitar is meticulous. It comes in a hard case.
The sound is very traditional and loud. It can be played with great intensity and remains clear and focused. It is also incredibly responsive when played with a light touch.

I play Tango pieces, classical pieces and even Jazz and it all sounds fabulous. It's a very versatile instrument.
This guitar retailed for around $14,000 US in 2008. I have found 2 other re-edition guitars on the net.
One in the US selling for $24,000 Singapore dollars at Thomas music and the other is on US eBay with a price of around $12,000 US.

Jim Redgate is best known for his association with classical guitarists such as Anna Vidovic, the Grigoryan brothers and Sergio Assad.

History
Felix Manzanero retired in 2012. Felix Manzanero learned in the Jose Ramirez shop in the 1950's where he was considered to be one of the best makers. He established his shop in the early 1960's in Calle Santa Ana. He has continued learning and expanding his craft since he has a splendid collection of 100 old Spanish Guitars in his shop dating back to the 18th century. He was considered one of the XX best exponents of Guitar making. Especially his flamenco Negras and made guitars for many of Flamenco’s Greats.
This splendid example was ordered by Ian Davies to play with Victor Monje “Serranito” on the world stage. So a lot of care was lavished on it. This is truly a hand- made guitar--one man designs, makes and finishes one complete guitar. It was made by a greatly experienced maker at the height of his powers knowing it would be heard by all. The rosette of each guitar is hand made. The woods for this instrument being Brazillian are no longer available and were dried and seasoned by Felix for several decades before beginning this guitar. The bracing and soundboard were carefully worked by Felix to precise flexibility/strength to achieve the unique Manzanero sound.
It has the all the hall marks of Felix Mazanero full resonant basses with the “darkness” typical of well seasoned Brasillian Rosewood balanced with the rich unctuous trebbles and powerfull midrange.

Statement from previous owner. a flamenco professional who worked and lived in Spain for many years and who bought the guitar from Ian Davies.
“The Felix Manzanero is a 1969 Negra and was owned and played by the renowned Ian Davies who used it all the years he worked at café de Chinitas with “Serranito” and also used during his concert tours with Serranito.
He sold it to me when his Arcangel was ready for him after a 6 year wait in 1974.”

Condition Report:
The current owner was going to allow his son to inherit it so it has not seen any playing over the last few years.
It is in original condition and has fair playing wear but there are no cracks or visible repairs and the lacquer is in fair condition.
Given it’s original condition it would be a great addition to a special guitar collection or great opportunity for a working musician to own a guitar from the golden era of Conde’s guitar building.
At this price $5900 price alternatively, as an investment the top could be refinished and value added to the guitar. I compared it to my own 2014 Medialuna Blanca @$10,000 from the same workshop and they are very similar in tone, projection and flamenco attack. With the 1975 one slightly easier to play!

This is a 2017 Pre-loved Cedar concert Chamber guitar, is by Master Luthier Yulong Guo who is a world-class professional concert guitar. The action is 3.75mm and 3mm at the 12th fret, with room for adjustment. Excellent condition, but the case is scuffed
The craftsmanship in the woodworking and finish are evident and matched by the wonderful acoustic properties of this beautiful guitar.

For this Chamber Concert model the latest classical guitar technology was used: double-top with two ultra-thin layers of high-quality sound woods on either side of a layer of Nomex to give the strength needed for the durability of the top.
Back and sides are made of solid Indian Rosewood. The arched “violin back” gives the guitar amazing sound projection and volume, making it ideal for concert performances.
The upper bout of the body is sloped to give a ‘raised fingerboard’ in the style of Humphrey guitars.
The ebony fingerboard is 52 mm in width at the nut and 62 mm at the 12th fret. The action is 3.75mm and 3mm at the 12th fret, with room for adjustment
The fingerboard also extends to the 20th fret for the treble strings.
A rosewood armrest, ultra-smooth frets and a low string action make the Chamber Concert exceptionally easy and comfortable to play.
