Introducing Marc Askew

Marc Askew is an experienced professional performer and teacher of guitar.

He teaches guitars students of all ages, presenting lessons either tailored to individual needs, or based on programs for exam preparation for AMEB, Trinity College, London etc.

His main focus is the classical guitar repertoire as well as Latin American styles and Jazz.

He has AMEB qualifications in classical guitar and has studied with David Gonzalez, the senior professor of classical guitar at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, Spain (2016).

He studied jazz guitar with the well-known jazz educator Bruce Clarke, in Melbourne.

Marc was co-founder of the Jazz Duo “Kind of Blue” which performed regularly in the restaurant and hotel venues of the central Victorian region until late 2016 when Marc left to study guitar in Madrid.

During 2014-2015 Marc studied Brazilian popular guitar styles (focussing on 7-string guitar) with a number of prominent teachers in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

In early 2018 he spent two months in Colombia where he explored traditional Colombian music.

He presents solo performances in house concerts in the Macedon region, and has performed with the Flamenco group SOMOS, in Melbourne. When inspired, he writes feature articles for the Melbourne-based classical guitar website guitarsonline.com.au.
