The Paulino Bernabé model 20 is a professional level concert guitar built to his highest standards of workmanship.
It is made from all-solid woods, carefully selected for their quality and tonal properties. This model has back and sides made with Madagascar rosewood, ebony fingerboard, and a master grade German spruce or Cedar top. It has a lacquer finish, and is fitted with Fustero deluxe machine tuners. It offers a bold Spanish sound with great projection and power. The separation is excellent and notes are even from fret to fret. The trebles are clear, sweet, focused and sparkle. They are balanced nicely by its rich cello like basses. The guitar shows clarity all the way up the fretboard and rings out well every register. The set up is comfortable.

The Model 30 builds on the concert like character of the 20 but has a sense of playfulness and joy. The tone is smooth and warm with a velvety character combined with noticeable clarity and evenness across the strings. The 30 reflects the extra time invested so is very responsive to right and left hand touch, making it easy to experiment with different tones, texture and dynamics with the range of dynamic and quality of sound at all levels being excellent. The bass is firm and strong giving the overall sound, depth and support.
This is an excellent instrument and represents a quantum leap from lesser priced guitars due to the clarity and definition of the inner strings, the balance and the colour.

From the workshop of Paulino Bernabé this model 50 is a handmade classical guitar for concert performances. It is elegant and timeless, featuring Madagascar rosewood back and sides and Canadian cedar top. It is French polished, fitted with high quality Rubner tuning machines, ebony reinforcement in the neck and beautiful purflings and rosette. Typical of Bernabe’s cedar guitars, it delivers a romantic, haunting and enveloping Spanish sound. The trebles are clear and polished, the basses a profound and firm. The guitar has excellent separation and balance. And, its comfortable set up makes it a pleasure to play.

Just arrived from the makers workbench. I ordered this one because I’ve liked them every time I play one. The PB50 is a handmade classical guitar for concert performances built by a maker at the peak of his powers, it delivers a romantic, haunting and enveloping Spanish sound. The trebles are clear and polished, the basses profound and firm. The guitar has excellent separation and balance. And, it’s comfortable set up makes it a pleasure to play.
I rate as one of the great trinity of concert guitars together with the Manuel Adalid Cathedral and the Vilaplana NT before you have to invest over $35,000 in your guitar.
Daniel Nistico’s review shows even he was impressed it said “It is very beautiful guitar, with even, consistent tone, it is a very nice blend modern sensibilities guitar but very even, very silky with a very Spanish tone, it’s gorgeous (playing), silky all over the instrument, very playable as well. Very even, gorgeous”. Plays arrangement of Tears in heaven by Hirokatsu Sato to showcase the guitar.

Paulino Bernabé's model Torres is based on an 1864 Torres in his collection. Although the style of this copy is true to the original generally, it isn't stuck entirely in the 19th century, and so incorporates some nice touches, such as Bernabe's new bridge that looks the same, but maintains an optimal string angle over the saddle. Being a bench copy, its sound is everything one might expect from a master luthier of Bernabé's calibre. It offers not just an authentic sound, but one that is balanced, has great separation and rich harmonics. The basses are lovely, the mid-range is outstanding, and the trebles truly sing.

The Luthier - Paulino Bernabé
…in his own words
I was born among guitars, on June 9, 1960 on General Margallo Street in Madrid, where my father was the chief of the Ramírez’s workshop.
We lived in the upper floor of the shop, and I had the luck that ever since I was very small I have always watched as my father worked with the wood, selected it carefully and it treated with love and respect. He always told me that he looked for the most noble woods and that the wood always thanked him with quality, by allowing him to build a good guitar.
Then, when my father became independent, a new time of his life, the workshop began in our family house on Loto street. I continued learning the secrets of the good construction of guitars, directly from father to son; there was always much time spent in the workshop and so soon I left my studies to do the work I loved and to work with my father full time.
At the age of 17 years old I began my career of guitar-maker as my father’s apprentice, with the best but most difficult Master; he was always a perfectionist and he was always telling me the secrets of the use of the tools and the knowledge of the life of the woods. In this way, first I learned the secrets of my Master, and then in time I could work in the same fashion as my father, always attentive to his advice and his good ways of seeing a profession that he had as an art.
We worked together in this manner for 30 years. Even when we rested or we had vacations we were always thinking of the future and about how we could build the next Great Guitar. Now my father has passed and that challenge has become mine. I know my father is still with me, even after his death, helping me build my guitars and that he is happy that he prepared me so well these 30 years, to build guitars in our way.
I hope to make the same thing with my children, if they want to follow this beautiful profession of making great guitars.
Description
The Model 15 had now superseded the model 10, with a thinner more ergonomic neck and easier playability the major change it comes with back and sides made with Indian rosewood, ebony fingerboard, and a primer quality Canadian cedar top. It has a lacquer finish and is fitted with Gotoh deluxe machine tuners. The 15 is a step up from the Model 5 in that it offers more detail in the individual notes and has greater resolution due to the higher grade top. It also seems if anything easier to play, something that seems to be true of all of Paulino’s guitars as you go up the range. Tonally it offers Paulino’s signature clear and rounded and polished singing trebles. These are balanced well against profound but well-defined basses. It delivers projection and musicality. The separation, intonation, and evenness from note to note are excellent. The guitar is set up superbly, and is comfortable to play.

This is one of his student models not quite in the category of the Concert Royal of the high end PB50 but an excellent concert level guitar at student affordable prices. You’ll notice detail in the individual notes and tonally it offers Paulino’s signature clear and rounded and polished singing trebles. These are balanced well against profound but well-defined basses. It delivers projection and musicality.
