About the Maker

This is a Juan Estruch  classical guitar, made sometime between 1960 (round, unsigned and unnumbered label) in Barcelona, Spain.  This was a small maker, and the guitar does look handmade. All solid wood and a nice rosette and bridge. The back and sides are cypress so it is a blanca, and all binding is wood.  All original, Easy to play & a very warm flamenco sound!

From the web :

Estruch is one of the oldest still existing guitar workshops in Spain, started more than 130 years ago in Barcelona. Today it is a leading company with a number of very successful guitars in the collection, and a member of "El Gremio de Maestros Artesanos de la Guitarra Española" (The Guild of Master Builders of Spanish Guitars).
These hand-built guitars meet high quality requirements, due to the materials used and the craftsmanship and attention with which they are built.

It is very well set up and has a very flamenco action with a very ergonomic and comfortable neck which was unusual for the time. It is a very open and easy to play and represents superb value. With a Hardcase from 60s

About the Guitar

  • TOP: Solid German Spruce

  • SIDES & BACK: Cypress

  • NECK: Spanish Cedar Reinforced

  • FINGERBOARD: Rosewood

  • MACHINE HEADS: Luxury High Quality Machine Heads

Alejandro Florez’s review of this guitar was that it is  “Comfortable to play, good on the left hand you can do bar cords all day,  it strums really well for rasgueado and is well balanced”.
