Cachimba C8

A$1,070.00

About the maker

Well this is a blast of nostalgia. I had heard of these but never seen one as it were in “the flesh”.

The Cachimba guitars line up was commissioned by Dr Peter Calvo who founded the Sydney Guitar School in 1969, which latter became AIM.

Finding there were few quality Classical guitars suitable for teaching the Classical repertoire available in Sydney.

He commissioned a small factory in Nagoya, Japan. To make him a series of models from 1-10 for his burgeoning student base. This is a high-end model 8.

About the Guitar

features

  • TOP: Solid Red Cedar

  • SIDES & BACK: Solid Indian Rosewood

  • NECK: Spanish Cedar Reinforced inside with Ebony Wood

  • FINGERBOARD: Ebony

  • MACHINE HEADS: Luxury High Quality Machine Heads

This is a high-end model 8 Cachimba and apart from some fingernail scratches it’s in good shape, considering its age.

The soundboard is solid cedar and plays very well. accompanied by a gig bag, 99 cm long, 37.8 cm wide, 10.2 cm deep. Dan’s rendition of the Chopin piece showcases the guitars’ playability and delivery very well and displays great tone and power at a small investment. This guitar will again be the making of an up and coming player.

Daniel Nistico when playing and reviewing the Cachimba 8 said “ This is wonderful Guitar, I like what it says here on the label “crafted from choice materials under strict supervision of the Sydney Spanish Guitar Centre”. Lovely solid back and sides guitar. This is an intermediate range guitar and you get pretty great value for money here it’s a pretty robust sounding guitar. (Plays chords to show) pretty sweet plays a nice scale showing tone. Dan then Plays excerpts of Adelita, Bach. And Chopin Valse transcribed by Mario Parodi.
